This is a neat weekly feature over at a blog I really enjoy, The Broke and the Bookish. They read books similar to some that I've been reviewing, and they're fun and they write well. Totally worth checking out!
Top Ten Nine Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book
1. Sadie Baxter from the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I'd love to see prequels of a sort, from her point of view. Mitford way back when.
2. Lulu or Morelli from the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. Lulu would just be HILARIOUS. Morelli would be interesting. There'd be a vague background of chaos from Stephanie, but his books could focus more on crime-solving.
3. Hermione from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I don't really feel that I need to explain this one... ;)
4. Isaac from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I don't know if I could actually stand to read it (TFiOS ripped my heart out) but I did really like Isaac's sense of humor.
5. John Galt from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. This book is one of my top ten ever books, I love it so much. The whole book, characters keep asking each other "Who is John Galt?" What if there was a book from his perspective too?
6. Isabelle from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. She kicks butt slaying demons and always looks hot doing so. She acts tough, but I just know she's all glitter and fuzz inside.
7. Patrick or Sam from The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Just because I want more from that story!

8. Kavita from the Born Confused series by Tanuja Desai Hidier. She's the fun-loving cousin who lives in NYC and goes to college and is fearless.
9. Gabe from the Pennsylvania Dutch Mysteries by Tamar Myers. I'd love to see the community and Magdalena's exploits from an outside perspective!
This list ended up being really hard to do! First off, in a lot of YA we already get multiple povs within the book, or the authors have already done one-off story arcs. (Example: the Magnus Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare.) So I only have nine. But please leave me a link with your list! You probably remembered great ones that I forgot.
Great list! I definitely agree with you on Hermione needing her own book because she is so fierce and I would love to read about just about her!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! There's a lot of HP characters making this week's TTT; I'd be curious to read what happens to Hermoine after events of HP :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Isabelle would make a great protagonist. I'm all for it!
ReplyDeleteZOMG! I would love to have a book from Hermione's perspective! How epic would that be?
ReplyDeleteAhh Isaac is a good one! I'd love to him with his own story.
ReplyDeleteHermione definitely doesn't need an explanation! Great list! I haven't read very many of these but they're all on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, great list!
ReplyDeleteHermione FTW! Is Lulu the grandma or the hooker in One for the Money?
ReplyDeleteLulu is the hooker best friend! She's hilarious.
