Will It Waffle?: Bacon and Eggs to Mac 'n' Cheese, Bibimbap to Chocolate Chip Cookies--53 Irresistible, Unexpected Recipes to Make in a Waffle Iron
(Doesn't that sandwich on the cover make your mouth water?)

What a totally fun cookbook!  If you've been following this blog, you know I never seem to go for "normal people" cookbooks.  But I saw this in my library's new acquisitions email and immediately saw the teen library program potential.  And I own a waffle iron!

Tonight I made Waffled Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Took me less than 15 minutes to whip up the batter, and then only 2 minutes per batch to cook them in the waffle iron.  My entire house smelled fantastic, and the hubby gave it two thumbs up when he test-tasted one.  I predict that "my" teens will think I'm totally weird, then totally cool, when I introduce them to the idea of using a waffle iron to make cookies!  I predict that many, many batches of waffled cookies will be made.  :)

The cookbook opens with the author discussing various types of waffle irons and best practices for using them for cooking non-traditional waffley foods.  I really appreciated the tips and tricks.  For the cookies, he starts by telling us to heat a waffle iron to 375F.  Well, my iron isn't fancy enough to have a temperature setting, but it worked just fine.  I like to assume that most of the basic recipes would also work even if your iron only has two settings:  "off" and "on."  I plan to try the sandwich from the front cover of the cookbook too.  I guess it's kind of like using a Forman Grill... but you get textured end products!

Every recipe includes a full-color photograph, and there were very few non-staple ingredients in most recipes.  I would definitely recommend this cookbook for people who enjoy "playing" with their food!

*I checked out my copy of Will it Waffle? from my local library.

Both books are on my TBR pile for this month. They sound wonderful! Thanks again! Sandra
